With Kazuko Uchida

Experience the beauty of Japanese calligraphy in this beginner-friendly one-day workshop. In just two hours, you will learn the fundamentals of traditional brush techniques and discover how to write your name in Katakana, the script commonly used in Japan for foreign names.

The lesson begins with simple brush strokes to help you feel comfortable handling the brush. You will then practice writing your name on practice sheets before creating a finished piece on elegant formal paper.

At the end of the course, you can proudly take home your completed artwork along with a Japanese calligraphy starter kit, so you can continue practicing your new skill.

About the Teacher…

Kazuko Uchida grew up in Yokosuka, a small city where a good-old-day atmosphere still remains. Surrounded by classical architecture and seasonal beauty, she developed an early appreciation for aesthetics and form.

Introduced to Japanese calligraphy at a young age at school, Kazuko was inspired by the balance and discipline of brushwork. Today, she works as a professional calligrapher, blending traditional Japanese techniques with modern artistic expression.
